PDF (A4) Print Katagami ART
#5 KOI in Circles
Katagami is a Japanese art of making paper stencils for dyeing cloth.
The stencils are made from layers of washi paper, a traditional Japanese paper, that are glued together with Kakishibu, an aged persimmon juice. The stencils are then cut with knives and punches to create designs.
Katagami stencils are used to dye cloth for kimono, yukata, and other Japanese garments.
Katagami stencils can be used with inks on paper.
